Hello Blog fans!
I've been busy working, so no time to blog. Anyway, I've decided that the blog should be 'little and often' as opposed to the 'big but never gets done' approach.
Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat, which is good for the gander too as we have an equal opportunities policy in our house. Almost all the presents have been ordered and delivered, almost all the food has been ordered and almost all the money has been spent...well, there is a credit crunch on you know.
It's been a while since the last blog so Ellie's development looks meteoric; started walking (just before her first birthday) but not quite talking (though she has mastered the first three words of 'Baa baa black sheep') and has had all her jabs now, the MMR and pneumococcal meningitus being the latest just last week. Ideal for some side effects to kick in over Christmas.
The mighty Christmas tree was put into place the week before last at an immense cost (£34!) and the weekend just gone I've started cooking by making three batches of Cranberry Sauce - the other two being for the Mansons and Speakman-Whiteheads, an investment that should see a healthy return of apple sauce and trifle. Clearly splitting condiment responsibility is the future.
The menu for Christmas at Sharpe Towers reads:
Aperitifs
Selection of home made (farmhouse pork) and bought pate with artisan bread
Ham with apple sauce
Turkey with all the trimmings
Trifle....
After which there's no point planning anything as everyone will be outrageously full.
